The amount of rocket thrust produced by a certain weight of fuel. It is calculated by dividing the rocket's thrust by its flow of fuel. This is expressed in seconds, because the thrust is measured in pounds and the fuel flow in pounds/seconds, so the pounds cancel each other out. The ISP of liquid hydrogen is 420 seconds. A higher ISP indicates a better-performing rocket.
