Any product of the condensation of the water vapour in the atmosphere, which can occur either in the atmosphere or on the surface of the earth. Hydrometeors can consist of solid or liquid particles that form and remain in suspension in the atmosphere, e.g. cloud, fog, and mist. Liquid precipitation can occur as rain, while solid precipitation can take the form of hail and snow. Solid or liquid particles rising from the surface of the earth include blowing snow and blowing spray from the sea. Solid or liquid deposits on exposed objects include dew and hoarfrost.
