A member of Plato’s Academy and pupil of Speusippus, Heraclides was a contemporary of Aristotle and wrote on ethics, astronomy, physics, history and politics. His extant dialogues show an attractive light style, illustrated by anecdote and myth, an influence on subsequent writers such as Cicero.
