A convenient means of measuring magnetic flux density, B, by utilizing the Hall effect. A small sample of a suitable semiconductor, such as indium antimonide or indium arsenide, is used in which the Hall voltage developed across it varies almost linearly with the magnetic flux density. The probe can be used in nonuniform fields.
