An igneous fabric consisting of streaked-out, linear, planar, or discoidal aggregates of mafic minerals more densely concentrated than in the host rock, with which they have diffused boundaries. Some schlieren may represent partly remobilized, mafic-rich xenoliths, streaked out by the flow of the enclosing magma.
