An imaging spectrometer developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) to measure trace gases in the Earth's troposphere (lowest region of the atmosphere) and the stratosphere above it. These measurements, using three different viewing angles, can be used to investigate events that influence atmospheric chemistry, such as pollution, burning, dust storms, and volcanic eruptions.
