单词 Sabatier–Senderens process
释义
Sabatier–Senderens process

Chemistry
  • An exothermic chemical reaction in which hydrogen reacts with carbon dioxide at high temperatures and pressures, when a catalyst (usually nickel) is present, to form methane and water:

    CO2+4H2CH4+H2O

A similar hydrogenation process is employed commercially to convert unsaturated vegetable oils into margarine.

The process is named after Paul Sabatier (1854–1941) and Jean-Baptiste Senderens (1856–1937), who developed it in 1897.

Chemical Engineering
  • A process for the hydrogenation of an organic compound such as an unsaturated fat and used to produce margarine. It uses hydrogen gas and a nickel catalyst at around 150ºC. The process is named after 1912 Nobel Prize winner Paul Sabatier (1854–1941) and Jean-Baptiste Senderens (1856–1937).
