Romania’s first artificial satellite. Developed by ROSA, and based on the American Cubesat, the 1 kg, 10-cm-wide cube was launched on 13 February 2012 from Kourou, French Guiana, aboard a Vega rocket. The satellite achieved low Earth orbit but was unstable. Contact with Goliat was established five days later, but not long enough to get its systems running. The satellite’s orbit decayed and the craft burned up in Earth’s atmosphere in January 2015.
