单词 response time
释义
response time

Computer
  • Usually the elapsed time between an action initiated by a computer-system user (or by the occurrence of some external event) and the receipt of some form of response or feedback from the system.

Internet
  • The time difference between the end of a single interaction with a computer and when the results of the interaction are returned to the screen.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • The time interval between the arrival of an input or request to a device and its provision of the appropriate output or response. For simple services, such as a fetch of data from a memory address, response time is very predictable and is usually determined by the system clock cycle. For complex services, such as a web page look-up, the time will include queuing time and network transmission, which can be unpredictable, as well as the more predictable service time for the web server to actually obtain the requested page.

Geography
  • The speed of a reaction to a change in environment. See Dyke and Peltier (2000) Geomorph. 32, 1–4 on response times and sea-level changes. For land ice, the dynamic response time is proportional to the size of the ice mass (W. Paterson 1994). J. Bamber and A. Parsons (2004) have a table of estimated response times for various components of the climatic system.

See also reaction time; relaxation time.
