A term used to refer to a situation in which an electrical signal is represented as a function of frequency. A complex information signal may contain many frequency components. These can be determined using Fourier analysis, which yields the individual single-frequency components of the signal. The components can be observed using a spectrum analyser, which displays signals in the frequency domain.
