A battle that took place in eastern Belgium between Namur and Louvain, Marlborough’s second great victory during the War of the Spanish Succession over the French army under Villeroi. Marlborough duped his opponents into thinking his main attack was coming from the right and smashed through the French line from the left. The French losses were five times greater than Marlborough’s. He went on to overrun much of Flanders and Brabant.
