A Russian satellite for very long baseline interferometry, with international collaboration, using a 10-m radio dish in orbit. The dish, known as the Space Radio Telescope (SRT), was launched on the Spektr-R spacecraft in 2011 July. The dish consists of a solid 3-m diameter centre with 27 surrounding petals that unfolded in orbit. Working with radio telescopes on the ground, it provides baselines up to about 350 000 km, the satellite’s apogee.
