Term due to the American philosopher Sydney Shoemaker for what remains of remembering an event if we delete the implication that what is remembered actually happened. Quasi-remembering would thus be the state held in common by one who remembers an event, and by one who is in the same current psychological state, although the event they purport to remember never happened. It is contentious whether it is legitimate to isolate such a concept, and to what extent it is parasitical upon the ordinary notion of remembering.
