A type of tektite found in the Philippines in Southeast Asia; also known as a rizalite. A subtype of the indochinites, they form part of the Australasian tektite strewn field that formed less than 800 000 years ago. The philippinites are characterized by distinctive U-shaped grooves that may have formed through chemical weathering of thermal cracks.
