A mode of feedback control of a process in which the output from the controller is proportional to the error in the signal. This is the difference between desired (set point) and measured values. See pid.
A control system that operates by first determining the difference between the actual value of the quantity to be controlled and the desired value, and then applying a correction proportional to this difference (see diagram).
