A radar system that is used at an airport to present accurate information about the location of incoming aircraft in the vicinity of the airport and is used as an aid for air traffic control. An associated airport surveillance radar system (ASR) is usually employed separately to scan the surrounding area and presents continuous information to the air traffic controller about the distance and bearing of all aircraft within a given radius of the airport.
