A tracing or graph of the electrical activity of the brain. Electrodes taped to the scalp record electrical waves from different parts of the brain. The pattern of an EEG reflects an individual’s level of consciousness and can be used to detect such disorders as epilepsy, tumours, or brain damage. See also brain death.
