An approximate value for the rth decile of a data set can be read from a cumulative frequency graph as the value of the variable corresponding to a cumulative relative frequency of 10r  %. So the 5th decile is the median and the 2nd decile is the 20th percentile. The term decile was introduced by Galton in 1882.
