PWT (Personal Wireless Telecommunications) A U.S. standard for digital cordless telephony, based on the pan-European Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard. Through frequency division multiplexing (FDM), PWT provides 10 carriers in the unlicensed 1910–1920 MHz band, with channel spacing at 1.25 MHz. Each channel will support 1.152 Mbps using /4 differential quaternary phase shift keying (/4 DQPSK) modulation. Each channel supports 12 users through time division multiple access (TDMA) and time division duplex (TDD), for a total system load of 120 users. Voice 74570c16.qxd 9/11/07 12:27 PM Page 399 |
