goodput The amount of useful data, user data, or payload that can be processed by, passed through, or otherwise put through a system when operating at maximum capacity and received at the correct destination address, minus any packet headers or other overhead, minus any information lost or errored in transit, and minus any duplicate transmissions or retransmissions. Goodput can be thought of as throughput seen by the receiver. Goodput is usually less than throughput, which is always less than bandwidth. See also bandwidth and throughput. |
