In ISDN, A two-octet address field in a LAPD frame, the DLCI is used for addressing at the Data Link Layer, which is Layer 2 of the OSI Reference Model. The first octet is the service access point identifier (SAPI), which identifies the destination service access point, each of which can support multiple terminal devices. In frame relay, 10 bits in a LAPF frame that identify the data link, the virtual circuit (VC).
