单词 corporate governance
释义
corporate governance

Geography
  • The system by which companies are directed and controlled; it is concerned with systems, processes, controls, accountabilities, and decision-making at the heart of and at the highest level of an organization. Issues of corporate governance are central to corporate social responsibility (Gouldson (2006) Area 38, 4). See also A. Bongenaar (2001) and G. Clark and D. Wójcik (2007). There is a growing European market for corporate governance; large continental companies appear to be adopting shareholder-friendly practices more consistent with global financial market imperatives than their national traditions; see Bauer et al. (2008) J. Econ. Geog. 8, 4.

Economics
  • The processes, both formal and informal, through which a corporation is administered and managed. Corporate governance involves the legal requirements imposed upon the corporation, the policies adopted by the corporation, and the informal customs within the corporation. The concept of corporate governance also embodies the interactions between the many parties that can be viewed as stakeholders in the corporation: directors, managers, shareholders, employees, customers, banks, and regulators.
