Chladni, Ernst Florens Friedrich (1756–1827) Astronomy
In 1794 he speculated that meteorites are fragments of a shattered planet. Their extraterrestrial origin was confirmed by J.-B. Biot in 1803. Chladni suggested in 1819 that there could be a connection between meteors and comets.
