The use of toxic chemical substances in warfare or military operations. A large number of chemicals have been designed or used for warfare, including pulmonary agents (chlorine, carbonyl chloride, diphosgene), blister agents, (lewisite, sulphur mustard, nitrogen mustard), and the nerve agents.
