An internationally agreed code formerly used for the transmission of signals, particularly in telegraphy. It is a two-condition code in which each character to be transmitted consists of a number of dots and dashes, each group being separated by spaces. The dots and dashes are represented electrically by pulses of different duration. A Morse key is a manually operated device used to convert information into Morse code. A Morse printer is a device that converts received information, recorded on a suitable medium, into the corresponding characters.
