A flash memory storage device packaged up with a USB connector, so it can be easily inserted into and removed from a personal computer. Such devices have replaced floppy disks as the main non-Internet-based way of transferring data between computers. They transfer data at much higher speeds than magnetic disk drives, and so can also be used as a way to provide disk data cache memory to speed up hard disk use. USB flash drives can hold up to 1 TB of data.
