The first star atlas to cover the entire sky, published in 1603 by J. Bayer. Each constellation was depicted on a page of its own, with star positions from the catalogues of Ptolemy and Tycho Brahe, with the exception of the 12 newly described southern constellations invisible from Europe, which were combined on a single page. This atlas introduced the system of labelling the brightest stars by Greek letters, known as Bayer letters.
