In some classifications, a phylum or subphylum of arthropods that contains the classes Chilopoda (centipedes), Diplopoda (millipedes), Pauropoda and Symphyla (centipede-like animals), and Hexapoda (insects). Members are characterized by uniramous appendages and a single pair of antennae.
