A subdivision of the C-type asteroids. Its members are distinguished by a moderately low albedo (0.04–0.08), but higher than that of a typical C-type asteroid. The second-largest main-belt asteroid, Pallas, is now included in this type. Other members include (379) Huenna, diameter 92 km, and (431) Nephele, diameter 95 km.
