A UK science park at Harwell in Oxfordshire that serves a hub for the UK’s growing space industry. The campus hosts over 600 space-related employees working in about 60 organizations. The UK Space Agency is working closely with local and national stakeholders to raise awareness of the opportunities space offers for economic growth across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Two new space facilities opened at the site in August 2015: the European Space Agency’s European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT) and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Space’s R100 building. The ESA’s newest facility will offer more than 120 jobs and will accommodate an Earth observation climate office, science and exploration teams, and technology and quality management teams. The Rutherford building will house two new space test chambers along with a vibration facility, clean rooms, and an assembly, integration, and verification control room.
