Indian founder of philosophical school Dvaita Vedanta. Madhva espoused a dualist philosophy or pluralist philosophy, holding absolute distinctions between various categories of being (the self, objects, other people, God) in opposition to the monist tendencies of much Indian thought and especially the advaita school of Shankara. He wrote extensive commentaries on preceding philosophical texts.
