A monotheistic religion founded in Persia in the 19th century by Baha’ullah (1817–92) and his son Abdul Baha (1844–1921). The seat of its governing body, the Universal House of Justice, is in Haifa, Israel, adjacent to the golden-domed shrine of the Báb where his bones were buried in 1909 after freedom was granted to religious minorities in the Ottoman empire.
