单词 thermistor
释义
thermistor

Physics
  • An electronic device the resistance of which decreases as its temperature increases. It consists of a bead, rod, or disk of various oxides of manganese, nickel, cobalt, copper, iron, or other metals. Thermistors are used as thermometers, often forming one element in a resistance bridge. They are used for this purpose in such applications as bearings, cylinder heads, and transformer cores. They are also used to compensate for the increased resistance of ordinary resistors when hot, and in vacuum gauges, time-delay switches, and voltage regulators.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • A resistor, usually fabricated from semiconductor material, that has a large nonlinear negative temperature coefficient of resistance. The thermistor is usually shaped as a rod, bead, or disc and named accordingly. Applications include compensation for temperature variations in other components, use as a nonlinear circuit element, and for temperature and power measurements. A thermistor bridge is an arrangement of thermistors for measuring power.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • A semiconductor whose electrical resistance decreases markedly with increasing temperature, and which is used as a sensitive device for measuring temperature.
