A major NASA science satellite launched on 4 May 2002 to gather information on the Earth's water cycle. Aqua measures evaporation from the oceans, water vapour in the atmosphere, clouds, precipitation, soil moisture, sea ice, land ice, and snow cover. It is one of spacecraft in NASA's A-Train constellation of satellites. Aqua was originally developed for a six-year design life but has now far exceeded that original goal and continues to transmit high-quality data from its six instruments.

It is one of the four satellites that comprise the A-Train and was still functioning on 31 July 2018.
