An area of continental ice that lay over the eastern part of Canada during the Pleistocene glaciations. The centre of the ice mass may have originated in or near northern Quebec, Labrador, and Newfoundland, and spread out to the south and west. At its maximum spread it may have covered an area of 13×10⁶ km².
