A privately funded network of robotic telescopes for use by professional and amateur astronomers and educators. Telescopes in the LCOGT network are located at Ali Observatory near Shiquanhe, Tibet; Cerro Tololo in Chile; Haleakala Observatory in Hawaii; McDonald Observatory in Texas; Siding Spring Observatory in Australia; the South African Astronomical Observatory; and Teide Observatory in the Canary Islands. They range in size from 2 m (the two Faulkes Telescopes) to 0.4 m. Projects include long-term monitoring of celestial objects and rapid follow-up of new discoveries. LCOGT’s headquarters is in Goleta, California.
