An arboreal, nocturnal, carnivorous or insectivorous primate (family Tarsiidae), up to about 15 cm long with a tail up to 25 cm long. The eyes are extremely large and face forwards, and the hind legs are very long and used for leaping from tree to tree. The ears are large and the neck is so mobile that a tarsier can face directly to its rear. There are three genera with about 11 species, found in Indonesia, eastern Malaysia, and the Philippines.
