单词 syzygy
释义
syzygy

Physics
  • The situation that occurs when the sun, the moon (or a planet), and the earth are in a straight line. This occurs when the moon (or planet) is at conjunction or opposition.

Astronomy
  • The configuration in which the celestial longitude of a planet or the Moon is the same as the Sun’s, or differs from it by 180°; the Earth, Sun, and the third body are then in line as seen from above the plane of the ecliptic. Hence, for the Moon, syzygy is the time of new or full Moon, and for a planet it is the time of conjunction or opposition.
