In sequence stratigraphy, a three-dimensional depositional unit, defined by its boundaries and internal geometry. Three systems tracts commonly occur within a single cycle of sea-level changes: the highstand (or highland) systems tract, lowstand (or lowland) systems tract, and, between them, the transgressive systems tract.
