A tall cylindrical column used for gas adsorption. The separation process involves the removal of one component from a mixed gas stream by means of a selective solvent. The solvent with the adsorbed gas is sent to another column known as a stripper, where the gas is separated again and the solvent recirculated to the scrubber for reuse. See absorption tower.
