He spent 197 days aboard the Russian space station Mir from August 1996 to March 1997. During his residency he performed two space walks totalling more than 12 hours. He was a member of the fifth resident crew on the International Space Station, from June to December 2002, taking two space walks to install panels and a frame. Korzun graduated from the Gagarin Air Force Academy in 1987, and was selected as a cosmonaut in the same year.
