The brother of John F. Kennedy and Edward Kennedy, he worked closely with his brother John in domestic policy, serving as Attorney-General (1961–64), and was a champion of the civil-rights movement. Robert Kennedy stood as a prospective presidential candidate in 1968, but was assassinated during his campaign.
