A type of relation first derived by H. Kawai, D. C. Lewellen, and S.-H. H. Tye in 1986 in the context of superstring theory; the relations state that the probability amplitude for quantum gravity is the square of the probability amplitude for a gauge theory. This type of relation has been extensively investigated since that time and has been derived using quantum field theory.
