An observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences founded in 1968 at an altitude of 950 m some 170 km north of Beijing, China. Its main telescopes include the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), opened in 2009; a 2.16-m reflector opened in 1989; and a 1.26-m infrared telescope opened in 1986.
