Synthetic resins made by polymerizing esters or other derivatives of acrylic acid (propenoic acid). Examples are poly(propenonitrile) (e.g. Acrilan), and poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate) (polymethyl methacrylate, e.g. Perspex).
