A new Japanese research institute established on 1 October 2015 by the University of Nagoya that unites space and earth-science research by integrating the University’s Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory, Hydrospheric Atmospheric Research Center (HyARC), and Center for Chronological Research into a single facility. The Institute's mission is to strive actively to resolve global environmental problems and to realize space-related advances to benefit humanity and society.
