The direction in the sky towards which a sample of stars tends, on average, to be moving because of the motion of the Solar System relative to the sample. This direction cannot be defined precisely because of the random motions of the stars themselves, and it differs according to spectral type because of varying population mixtures, but the approximate position is RA 6h, dec. −30°.
