A primate belonging to the genus Homo (family Hominidae), which includes H. sapiens, the only extant species to which we all belong, and its immediate ancestors and close relatives. These include H. habilis (2.1–1.5 Ma), H. rudolfensis (1.9–1.8 Ma), H. erectus (1.9–0.07 Ma), H. heidelbergensis (0.6–0.35 Ma), H. neanderthalensis (0.35–0.04 Ma), H. floresiensis (0.10–0.012 Ma), and possibly Denisovan people (0.4 Ma).
