The third-nearest star to the Sun, 7.8 l.y. away in the constellation Leo. It is an M5 dwarf of apparent magnitude 13.5 and has a luminosity 1/50 000 of the Sun’s. It is a flare star, with the variable-star designation CN Leonis.
