Guy was appointed Professor of Medical Jurisprudence at KCL in 1838. In 1844 he published a paper entitled On the Value of Numerical Methods as applied to Science, but especially to Physiology and Medicine. An advocate of sanitary reform, he was elected FRS in 1866 and was President of the RSS from 1873 to 1875.
